Benjamin

Bred to be slaughtered as a market hog this little boy has been on the planet for less than 48 hours and has already been through so much. Shortly after his birth, his dad ate some of his siblings! In the commotion, he was stepped on and his leg broken. Unable to get around he wasn't able to nurse and get the much-needed nutrients from his mama. He also stood a big chance of being smashed due to his immobility by the other sows in the pen. Without intervention, his chances of survival were zero, so....

This sweet little piggie went wee wee wee all the way to The Sale Ranch Sanctuary.

He was very small and appeared to be one of the runts, and the broken leg was bad.

 

When we rescued this sweet baby, we knew the odds were cruelly stacked against his frail and broken body. Without intervention, he had a zero chance of survival. We prayed and hoped that by stepping in, we could help change that. He was a fighter, but sadly the challenges proved to be too much, and he crossed over the rainbow bridge.
 

We named him Benjamin and held him close. Though we'll miss you so much, we are grateful for the time you were here and grateful that you are no longer suffering. RIP sweet boy and run free. You will always be in our hearts.
 

Though he was only here for a short time, he was loved. He knew comfort and kindness, and he was someone, not something.
